The chiefindustry is textiles or allied fields. A Place To Wmzvliip. . . The community is church-oriented. A total of 24 churches representing eight denominations. serve the area. A Place To Stuclv. .. The modern school system is a part ofthe single-unit county system. There are I0 elementary schools, one senior high and one junior high. In l97I-72 there were 5067 stu- dents enrolled, with 241 teacher employed. This provided a teacher- pupil ratio ot' 22-I in junior and senior high, and 26-I in elementary schools. Special technical education is available at the TriACounty Education Center, in which the county participates, or at the Greenville Techni- cal Education Center. In addition, a vocational school serves Easley High School, A Place To Play. ., There are two public parks, one with lighted field for all sports and lighted tennis courts. The YMCA is open to all members of the family for planned and supervised programs including swimming in an outdoor pool. A modern commercial recreation center featuring a bowling center and pool is available. There are theatres, a commercial golf course, and a stock car race track The Pickens County Country Club, situated a few miles from Easley is open to area residents.
