Homecoming 77 Volleyball - New Homecoming Activity ' 'The Games People Play11 was the theme chosen by the Student Council for the 1977 Homecoming Activities. Each day of Home- coming Week and each class float centered on a game. Strange faces and funny costumes brightened the halls, with Marilyn Thayer and Denise Ridge capturing the prize for best costume on 1 'Don't Clown Around Day.'' Appropriately enough, they were dressed as comical football referees. Late Tuesday night, some unknown clowns ' 'torched'' the woodpile that had been collected for Thursday night's Bonfire. Luckily enough, the Student Council was able to rebuild the woodpile for the big pep rally, which was preceeded this year by a first-a Homecoming volleyball game against Burlington. After the game, the Bonfire got underway, and even after the loss of the game, the students' spirits were high. Friday's bad weather put a damper on the parade. Not totally, though, for the Senior float made the parade for the first time in three years. The game proved exciting, with the Raiders losing by only one point. High spirits prevailed at the dance, and everyone seemed glad to be in out of the rain. Mary Beth Norton and Scott Tuftee were chosen as Homecoming Royalty.
