Volleyball Better Competition In Little 8 The girls' Volleyball teams started off this year at a big disadvantage-they had never before faced a Little 8 Confer- ence team. Having never played in the conference, the girls didn't know what to ex- pect . After facing Huntley on Sept. 29, however, the girls found that the competition in the conference was far above that in the Little 10. Most of the Little 10 teams played ' 'bump ball'', but the Little 8 teams played real volleyball- bump, set, spike. I think it's stuck! ' 'We are the champions ...'1 The girls knew they had a lot of work ahead of them, and at practice they really concen- trated on perfecting their skills. By the next week, their skills had progressed, and Wheaton had to struggle to win. The highlight of the season was the J.V. match against the un- defeated Richmond Rockets. After losing the first game 1 - 20, Earlville came back to win the second game 20-13, and took the third game 22-20. The season was long, not vic- torious, but the teams were the best yet at E. H. S.
