MR. CHARLES ROGERS. Industrial Arts I, II, III G IV, Jr. High Industrial Arts; Sophomore Class Adviser. The new shop features many new mechanical devices and gives ample space for work on projects. Formerly Earlville's junior high math and social studies instructor, Mr. Rogers accepted the industrial arts position. In the first two years of study the boys ex- plored areas such as free hand sketching, electricity, mechanical drawing, and machine woodwork. The junior and senior course included metal work, architectural drawing and an advanced study in some area of the student's choice. 29

The well-rounded program of vocational agriculture serves its community as well as its school. Boys participating in the four-year course progress from a general study of livestock in the beginning course through crops and soil to farm management in the last year. Field trips, shows and fair experience gives the student practical experience along with formal study. MR. STUART MONTOOTH. Agriculture I,II,III G IV; F.F.A. Language and Literature: the Foundation oj Our Culture MRS. SALLY STEWART. English IV, College Prep English, Speech; Sopho- more Class Adviser. Four book reports per nine weeks were re- quired of college prep students. The work of the English department is com- prised of four years' study of grammar, oral and written composition, and literature. A course in rhetoric is also offered to college - bound students. Two years of Spanish are offered and stu- dents are encouraged, if planning for a college education, to partake in both classes . The speech class is available for all stu- dents wishing to become active in the field of public speaking, interpretive reading, or everyday practical use. The class was also responsible for the make-up and scenery for the school musical and senior play. 30
