New Equipment for Business Department In order to gain practical experience, bookkeeping stu- dents are required to complete practice sets. Office practice students learned the final touches which are neces- sary for a good employee in busi- ness. MRS. CHLOTEEL LARGE. Typing, Office Practice, Shorthand, Bookkeep- ing; Senior Class Adviser, Yearbook Adviser. Students interested in the field of business education are offered one- year courses in bookkeeping, short- hand, typing, and office practice in a two-room department under the super- vision of Mrs . Large. This year die department added many new manual and electric typewriters which were pur- chased to replenish the outdated ma- chines . The bookkeeping room was renovated by adding individual desks and chairs which were used to accom- modate both shorthand and bookkeeping students . New equipment for handling all electrical machines was also pro- vided along with the installation of new electrical wiring throughout the de - partment. 26

Aiding students in adjusting to their school environment, Mr. Stork man also helped students in choosing careers. Looking to the Future Career information kits were provided for student use.

MRS. MARY FOUTS. Home Econom- ics I.n.III, G IV, Jr. High Home Eco- nomics; F.H.A. Adviser; Usherette Adviser; Jr. High Class Adviser. Home Economics students experi- enced various situations from simple to advanced. These included sewing a simple garment, tailoring, understand- ing basic nutrition, preparing well- balanced and attractive meals, learning about child development, understanding oneself, studying room improvement and home furnishings. Home Ec I G II students were taught the fundamentals of baking and cooking. 27
