this is earlham 1959 - a new heart, many more sidewalks, a brandenew president with great expecta- tions, another raise in tuition, a revised honor system, a deluxe study for d. elton .... but, deep down inside, earlham has remained the small church affiliated, coeducational, liberal arts college so picturesquely described in the first pages of the catalogue. students are still bitterly complaining about the laundry service, eating dinners family style, wishing they could win a football game, and taking themselves and their academic work more than most undergraduate collegians do. from september to iune they live in a small world bounded by the national road, the cemetery, college avenue and the farm. that world is composed of: a human element .. .. a social element ................... . . large and small campus organizations .. . . . many challenging sports ............. . . an academic element . . . . . the people ........... . . and the segap wolley . . .
