togetherness at shakamak was enioyed by over half the campus who retreated from the thickening academic atmosphere to a weekend of undisturbed loafing. it took suc a long time to sell students on the idea of an all-college outing, but when the tickets were reduced to 53.75, only a miserable minority stayed behind to eat cold meals and work on term papers. a variety of scheduled activities, the numerous facilities available at the park, and the balmy weather made the outing a successful risk. little may clay was the last big event. itlil the traditional observance began at 8:30 in the morning on the front steps of earlham hall where sarah delo was crowned queen of the may by this year's robin hood, hogi hansen. after a few old english songs and dances the crowd went inside for a large old-fashioned breakfast - the first breakfast some students had eaten all year. later a delightful performance of pyramus and thisbe by an m8tm cast was presented on the heart. that evening couples danced on a comfortably crowded floor to the music of glen miller's old band, a la tex beneke. f ! s ,bfi V' ' A, x L K l K A x A J I .- .,. 1 zu :wil I ,P z .. , , fi- is -Q X x V 'l S ,. l 'Q X .gf ' il ',.'S'?, -'Q 3 V , X. 9 A 'Y Q?
