the weaker sex made the date and her lucky feIIa's boutonniere for the girl-invite dance. wra chose wonderland of hearts as the theme for the valentine dance. a giant black spider, made in the back room by iuniors, overshadowed the bad luck ball. everyone came in costume, including the chaperones. the cool quartet with the shades were the featured entertainment. a footnote: the costume dance is a 2-year old tradition that was started by the class of '59 who sponsored the mardi gras last year. togetherness at shakamak was enioyed by over half the campus who retreated from the thickening academic atmosphere to a weekend of undisturbed loafing. it took suc a long time to sell students on the idea of an all-college outing, but when the tickets were reduced to 53.75, only a miserable minority stayed behind to eat cold meals and work on term papers. a variety of scheduled activities, the numerous facilities available at the park, and the balmy weather made the outing a successful risk.
