Students are en- couraged to participate in broad fields of competitive en- deavors for what they may put into the endeavor or project more than for what they receive. ilfi . . . . -Va ,,. , fs WSW' Henry Slalan placed first in the National Merit Scholar- ship Corporation Test for high school students. By win- ning he received a four year scholarship to the school of his choice. Frank Parree, Henry Szafen, Carole Brown, and Sandra Flora each received cash awards locally for their Soil Conservation Essays. Eagle post No. 211, represented by Mr. H. W. Sands, sponsored the local American Legion Oratorical con- test. Winners locally were Henry Staten, Terera Tor- rey, Michael Moravitr, and Bob Perkinr. Mrs. Ruth 16 Riskind sponsored the students-.
