SENIOR CLASS OUTSTANDING The Class of '59 was one of the notable Classes in the history of the Eagle Pass High School, hav- ing very successful junior and Senior years. With the money left from their Junior year, they donated it to the El Cenizo Club. During their junior year of '58 they had one of the best talent shows in Eagle Pass High School history and one of the outstanding Junior and Senior banquets. As the honorees of the junior Class at the Junior- Senior Banquet, the Who's Who of the Senior Class were selected. Having been honored by the Pan-American Round Table at a lawn coke party and dancing to the strains of the San Marcos Orchestra-May 15th at the Senior Prom, bacca- laureate-May 17th and graduation-May 22nd, the final frantic week closed out the year for the Seniors. STUDENT COUNCIL VERY ACTIVE IN 1958-1959 The Student Council enjoyed an exceedingly successful year this year, under the capable direction of Gus, Dean, Salvador, and Mr. Landrum. Biggest projects for the year were the selection and crowning of the Tri-Queens for the Homecoming and dance. They were Pilar Irueste, Student Council Sweetheart, Vita Moreno, VIC Club Sweetheart, and Tere Gonzalez, Band Sweetheart. Another first to be chalked up for the Council this ye-ar, social- wise, was the hugh success of the formal Rainbow Christmas Ball. Swarms of students, ex-graduates, and faculty alike swarmed into the gym for the gala affair. This year, the Spring Student Council District Meet was held here in Eagle Pass. Much was accomplished and a good time was had by all. Among other things, officers were elected, and a tentative Con- stitution was drawn up. At the fall meet, Dean Cary was elected President and Gus Martinez was elected Treasurer at the meet held in Uvalde. This year the offices will be the same. The Student Council has also worked very hard at planting grass on the open area between Kennedy Hall and the High School. Also, they conferred with the School Board, and it was decided that the old Jr. High Building be named for Mrs. Erna Kennedy, eighth grade Math teacher. 112 Senior Representatives: Arturo Gomez, Isauro Cairo, Saul Garza, Salvador Santos, Gus. Mar- tinez, Dean Cary, Gloria jean Bowles, Ann Landrum, Lynn Neuman, Eva Santos, juan Ramirez, Kathy Martinez, and Daisy English. Sophomore Representatives: Hector Garza, Aclelfa Rodriguez, Pilar Irueste, Ernestine Scales, Ana Barrientos, Phyllis Cary, and jesus Guerrera. f - fi' f CHORAL M, :-wer: '- , ' z xr F - CPN 'm : h'A L K S' Oe5Zgx5eQ -1 L,.. yew.
