This group has worked hard in planning the new community district, and they will have a great deal more planning to carry out the new building program. board of education The school year, l958-1959, brought many changes in the local schools. The new Eagle Grove Community School District, which includes nine former districts - Eagle Grove Independent, Thor Independent, W'oolstock Independent, Norway Township, Newark Township tincluding Yincentj, Troy Township, Eagle Grove Township, part of VVoolstock Township, and part of Dayton Township - was approved by voters in January, 1958: the new district. under the new Board of Education, began operation on July 1, 1958. The Eagle Grove Community School District operates a junior College, Senior High School, Junior High School, and two Elementary Schools - Lela Howland and I.incoln - in Eagle Grove, and an Elementary School in each of the neighboring towns of Thor, Vincent, and XVoolstock. Enrollment for the entire system is approximately 1800. Further improvement of the Eagle Grove Community Schools was made possible by approval of a bond issue of 3850000 to be used in constructing a new Junior High School, a new Elementary School in Vincent, and a 5-room addition to the Lincoln building. It is hoped these new facilities will be available by September 1960.
