During the fall and late spring, it functions primarily as a marching band. During the remainder of the school year and during the summer it is a concert band. The band's activities provid-e a wide range of variety. Members presented an ex- change concert at Hampton early in April, formed a dance band, and worked on solos and small instrumental groups for the state contest on April 25, besides presenting three home concerts for the general public. Each summer th-e band personnel prepares 8 sum- mer concerts which are presented in Central Park. A trip to Drake to a band clinic provided plenty of fun and excitement for the mem- bers who went, even through they may have been a bit sleepy-eyed when they boarded the bus early in the morning.
