Due to our shortened football seasfn, we received an early start. Eddie Gross was elected captain of our crew. and more than filled the position with his pep and spirit of cooperation. The team had a gced foundation to work from, as six letter men were back from last year. At center was rangy Don Hoiekvam, Hook , and his uncanny basket eye plus the tip-off control, made him one oi the main cojgs. Tillman Thompson. Tommy , and Harold Dixon. Dick , proved to be a pair of whirlwinds at forward, and turned out to be a pair cf the highest scorers in the Conference. The guard positions were held by Capt. Ed Gross and Marvin Larson. t'Mike . and they have the distinction of having never ence lost the ball on a down-floor flurry. Allen, Stedman. and Hart proved to be C1 formid- able trio cf Substitutes, and certainly deserve credit ici' their part in the seasons victories. All the first string. graduate this year. and ne Lt years team is still in the shadows, but if they have the old E. G. J. C. spirit, they are sure to crme out on top. We hope they also receive as good a banquet at the close oi' their reason, as we did at the finish of ours. gr I The 1930 MUSKETEERM MISS MARGARET STEVENS rWomens Athlet1c Dlrectorr Wvomenfs Athletics The past year the Jumor College g1rls have enjoyed a season of wholesome spo1ts under the mstructlon of M1ss Stevens The fxrst part of the year was spent m hectlc hours of baseball Our team the No Sox was pxloted by Evelyn Blackman and we made a good showmg 1n the tournament wlth the several Hlgh School teams The glrls no technique cf volley ball The captaln of the team was Margaret Kopeclcy and although she dxd her best and the team dld then' best to brlng honors to Junior College We had to fortelt cur flrst game of the tournament to another team Next came basketball and the g1r1S spent peppy perlods ln preparlng for the tournament Thls team the Plrcttes was cap tamed by Klarlze Smlth and we were lucky in drawlng a bye for the flrst part of the tournament However we were sooner or later to meet a good team and as It happened to be the Semors we had to play our hardest Yet they proved to be a stlff team and the Junior College agaln lost The sprmg season was agaln devoted to baseball several days bexng spent ln trylng ou1 sklll agalnst a few of the skxllful Junlor College men The Gym work appeared more as play than work to the Junlor College glrls and they gamed much from xt They learned what enthuslasm m play meant they lean ned to g0 mto the game for the sp1r1t of the game and they learned the lesson of good sportsman sh1p All th1s lS chlefly due to the work pep and personahty dlsplayed by MISS Stevens xx ho led her class so capably sooner played their last baseball game than they threw themselves wholly in the rules and
