Howard Mestas, Trudy Howard, Kristy Hines, Shelly Watts, Dana Legg,Diana Mitchell Kristy Griswould, Kristin Kelley; Front Row: Landa Eikner, Shelly Mpes, Heather Mosher, Dawna Mitchell, Lynette Pitman, Sheila Fuqua, This year's volleyball team was a strange one to figure out. We had size, experience and skilled people at every position. We had a big early lead in just about every game,we dove for loose balls and we always seemed to be outplaying everyone. Yet we ended up at 6-12. Something had to be missing and I believe it was the element of team spirit that left us on the short end of every close contest. I've always believed that if you don't play with emotion then you're just going through the motions and with the exception of districts, we were nothing more than a group of well skilled robots. The district tournament was the highlight of the season and we finally played as we should have all season long. We came within inches of winning it all but fell short to a fine team that eventually went all the way to finish second at the state tournament. I would like to thank those parents who did support me all season long, Diana Mitchell for patiently keeping stats and being manager, Jack Howard for the team meal, the E.H.S. boys for cheerleading and Trenda Howard for her assist ance and tremendous encouragement throughout a dismal season. Special thanks to Trudy for unselfishly making the switch from hitter to setter, thus enabling everone else to look better. Thank you, Howard Mestas 6
