1977 Volleyball Comments The volleyball season started off rather slowly, but ended in a pleasing note this ye« .r • With only ten days before their first leaque match, well over thirty girls took to the court with the intention of becoming a competitive volleyball team, and competitive they v ere! Although their season record was 4-6, records don't always prove to be too valid an indicator of a team's abilities. Eads took all but one team to three games in each match. When you lose a match in three games, you can never be too upset-it could have easily gone the other way. There were three very bright spots to the season that shouldn't be forgotten. First of all, we defeated Kit Carson, the leaque champion, during regular season play. Secondly, we managed to place 4th in the Sub-District Tournament, losing the Istand 2nd place teams of that tournament. Third, and more importantly, we will lose only two girls to graduation this spring and will be able to start off next year with sound fundamentals and a team with experience, poise, and con- fidence, the lack of which cost us so many games this season. I am confident that this year was the building year and that next year is the year that Eads will prove to be the power in power volleyball. Coach Blakey
