The annual E.H.S. girls Powder Puff football game was held Friday night, November 5th. It started out with the announcing of the coaches, captains, and cheerleaders. After the pre-game show the captains and referees met to flip the coin. The Foxy Flankers won the toss and chose to receive. The game got under way with the kick off from Monica Richardson of the Broad Squad to Konda McKnight of the Foxy Flankers. The kick return by Konda was good for 22 yards. The first offensive drive of the Foxy Flankers failed as the Broad Squad defense held their ground. The only offensive threat came in the late part of the second quarter when Shoni McKnight took the ball all the way to the Foxy Flankers 5 yard line. The Broad Squad had a little bit of bad luck with a few costly penalties and failed to take the ball in for the score. Thus ending the first half with a 0-0 tie. The half time activities began with the announcing of the mothers of the players. Then the king candidates and their escorts were announced, Marty Barnett and Cindy Bright, Donnie Kelley and Pam Davis, and Kip Peck and Penny Weirich, with Kip being crowned Powder Puff King of 1976. The second half started out with the kick off from Karen Ebright to Lorrie Lynn Watts which was good for 25 yards. The first score of the game came in the third quarter when Konda McKnight of the Foxy Flankers picked up a Broad Squad fumble and took it 29 yards for the touchdown. Suzette Barnett went in for the 2 point conversion, making the score 8-0. The Broad Squad failed to move the ball and punted it to the Foxy Flankers. A few plays later Suzette Barnett took the ball 56 yards for the score and also got in for the extra points which made the score 16-0 in favor of the Foxy Flankers. The only other score came in the fourth quarter on a 10 yard pass play from Monica Richardson to Teena Monson, of the Broad Squad. The extra points failed and the score was 16-6. With 52 seconds left to go, the referees called the game because it was getting too rough, thus ending the game with a 16-6 Foxy Flankers win.
