The story revolves around six ancient females who fall in love wit! the handsome detective who moves in across the street. If you have a sink plugged up, you call a plumber. If your radio doesn't work, you call a repairman. But what do you do to get the attention of a good- looking detective? Have a murder, of course, and if one isn't enough you have another, and perhaps even another! The six interested maidens; Misses Hildegarde, Birdie, Amantha, Lucy, Nettie, and Elizabeth match their old but still perceptive wits with younger Mr. Dennis O'Finn and his partner, Kramer. The ladies' plot is hampered, however, by that young hussie , Jane Rogers, who is a reporter assigned to the case.
