Your efforts, I'm sure, will be appreciated with each use of it. Thanks for a job well done. It is my sincere desire that your life has been enriched by the people, places, ideas, times and events that this yearbook has recorded. Also, I hope that you have added your share to the improvement of them - that you have helped to make them better and deserving of recognition. May this yearbook forever be a source of enjoyment and inspiration to you. Superintendent's JKessape May the memories recalled by this school annual inspire you to work a little harder to at- tain success. As years go by, this will become the most valued book that you want, not only because of its memories, but also because you had a part in making it. May this book also be an inspiration to all of the underclassmen of the school year of 1958-59. We hope that someday you, too, will be seniors. Sincerely, R. E. (’ ass rophecu It is the year 1989 and the Space Ship EHS - '59 is leaving Cape Carnival, Florida. It is one of the many rockets going to Mars with cargo from Earth. Grady Larkins is to pilot this rocket and under his guidance it should reach Mars in record time. Bob Bentley is also a very important figure around Cape Carnival. If it wasn't for his expertness in the field of electronics I'm sure our rockets would not be so successful as they are. With such capable men commanding the crew, the journey to Mats turned to be very pleasant and fast. I was very pleased to have such a charming hostess for my trip who was none other than Phyllis Watts. She looks so very nice in her flight suit of wooly cotton orlon. Her suit skirt is pleated and comes just above the knees. This enables her to show off her smartly made-up knee caps. Upon my arrival on Mars I took a raxie cab to the hotel where I was to stay. You can imagine my surprise when I realized the driver was Hubert Carey. He told me he was the owner of Marstown Raxie Cab Company and was doing quite well. I wanted something to drink so after putting my luggage in my room I went down town and decided to go into a little place called Joyce's Jolley Joint. I ordered a Jolley burger and a coke but I didn't like either one. Joyce Galbreath was the cook and forgot to put any jolley stuff in the Jolley burger and because of the altitude the coke didn't have any fizz. After eating I didn't feel too good so I went to see a doctor. He was busy taking care of Earthern Flu victims, but his nurse, Diann Scroggins, fixed me up with a Burpo-seltzer. I felt better immediately. That evening I attended a concert at the large auditorium. Every seat was filled as the Marstown 175 piece symphony orchestra under the direction of universally famous Virginia Culver took its place on the stage and began to play. The orchestra played Miss Culver's own arrangement of By the Light of the Silvery Earth. ” It is easy to see how this orchestra has become so famous with a director from the EHS class of 1959. After a wonderful night's sleep I remarked to the hotel manager how comfortable my bed was. I was told that each mattress is carefully inspected by Ronnie Bickel before it is used. Ronnie tests three mattresses every 24 hours--sleeping on each one for 8 hours. I decided to visit a Marstown school and see how the Earth people had improved them so when I arrived at the grade school I was shown into the kindergarten class. The teacher who turned out to be David Adamson was having a lot of difficulty teaching his pupils how to draw a picture of the Purple People Eater. At noon I ate in the school cafeteria and was surprised to see my old pal Clo Sanne Teal bossing every one around in the kitchen. She told me she was the Home Economics teacher and also had charge of all meal planning. During the afternoon I took a sight-seeing tour around the country-side and when we stopped to look at a large crater I saw someone I thought looked familiar and sure enough it was Sandra Aldrich. She had on a very practical space suit with a wide belt which carried a geiger counter, pans, picks and shovels. She told me that since her marriage to a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, she had been prospecting with her husband. After my sight-seeing trip I decided to have my hair cut and fixed in the latest Mars style. I went to the Lois-Arlene Beauty Shoppe and discovered that the operators were Lois Wissel and Arlene Schlein- ing. two former classmates. While sitting under a dryer I noticed a familiar person sitting close by. After talking to her for a minute I realized it was the former Janice Eder. She said her husband was in the Navy and she was here on Mars because of her health. I didn't think she looked any worse than she ever did. I was invited to Captain and Mrs. Hurley's for supper. Mrs. Hurley is the former Diane Mohler. She told me she would like to travel around with her husband but because of their large family there would be too many little sailors. After supper we watched the Universal Basketball Series on Marsavision and I was very happy when the Might Martians defeated the Plucky Plutos by a score of 495 to 27. The great seven-foot Bill Mays is captain of the winning team and made 490 of the points by himself. It was said that he could have made the other 5 points but someone put suction cups on his shoes. The next morning I was startled to see a herd of black, white face cattle being driven down main street of Marstown. Someone said the herd belonged to Larry Watts, a very successful rancher. Larry came riding by on a horse so I stopped him. We talked a minute and he said he also raised Hernsey Gernseys for milking. He told me that Patty Buck did all of the milking and that Bernice Kasza was his private secretary and bookkeeper. As I said goodbye to Larry I bumped into a very lovely girl who turned out to be Shirley Mast. She is the owner of the Shaperight Model Agency. She looked very pretty in her suit of pink, orange, and red ruffles. She has a five foot pony tail that just touches the ground. As 1 prepared to leave to travel in the rocket back to my home on earth I saw a man and woman standing in the middle of the road. I recognized the woman as the former Miss Cuzzetto, I stopped her and asked what was going on. She said she and her husband were out calling in the little Brabbs. As my rocket approached earth again I thought about my exciting trip to Mars. When I left the rocket after it landed I noticed a little excitement close by. Some children seemed to be pitting the space ship with atomic beans from their bean shooters. As three mothers rushed up I recognized them as the former Karen Uhland, Phyllis Sarah, and Shirley Harris. Karen grabbed four boys. Phyllis--three boys, and two girls, and Shirley--five girls. I hear Phyllis say she was glad she hadn't brought all of her monst--I mean children or there would have really been trouble. I wonder how many she has? I must hurry if I'm to get to the Lemon Bowl in time for the big game between the Eads University and the Chivington Military Academy, I'm counting on EU winning because Betty McKnight's husband, Marlin Eder is the coach and I just don't see how he could lose by marrying a graduate from The Class of 1959. I, Betty McKnight, will my ability to get a boyfriend that likes short hair to Nadine Kelley. I, Karen Uhland, will my ability to pop gum to Linda Grahm. I, Janice Eder, will my love (brotherly, that is) to Harold Pfingston. I, Phyllis Sarah, will my ability to catch and keep a boy friend for longer than ONE month to Bonnie Weeks. I, Grady Larkins, will my ability to stay awake in church to Richard Morton. I, Bob Bentley, will my ability to get along with Mrs. May to Norman Parker. I, Pat Buck, will my short hair to Carol Pfingston. I. Virginia Culver, will my clowning ability to Melvin Brian. I, Larry Watts, will my wrestling ability to Becky Hooker. I, Lois Wissel, will my freckles to Joyce Barber. I, Diane Mohler, will my excess weight to Carolyn Moore. I. Phyllis Watts, will my page-boy to Pete Koch. I, Fred Buck, will my running ability to George King. I, Ronnie Bickel, will my ability to bring my car to town and drive to Cardon Berry. I, Bill Mays, will my ability to get along with the teachers to Roland Mays. I, Bernice Kasza, will my ability to wear tight jeans to Diane Crow. I, Shirley Harris, will my ability to dance to Margaret Bell. I, Shirley Mast, will my pony-tail to Byron Sumner. I, David Adamson, will my slimness to Bob Crabtree. I, Diann Scroggins, will my musical ability to David Harrison. I, Hubert Carey, will some of my solid weight to Melvin Brian. I, Arlene Schleining, will my ability to be a good driver to Jean Durrett. I, Clo Sanne Teal, will my big feet to Nancy Anderson. I, Sandra Aldrich, will my ability to drive to Steve Woodrome. I, Joyce Galbreath, will my ability to get a boyfriend to Margaret Bell. We, the proud class of '59, being weak of head and sound of body do hereby declare that this is our last will and testament.
