@CcM4. 'Piofl tecef I hardly know how to begin writing this. So much has happened. As you've probably guessed I'm down here in Nashville, Tennessee, where 1 will be appearing on the Grand Ole Opry in about an hour. It took me quite awhile to get down here, as I took the long way around and visited some of my old classmates. First of all, I saw Dixie Weber, who was a very famous fashion designer in Amarillo, Texas. The latest fashion is a barrel skirt made with real barrels. I left there on Sunday, so I went to Church and Gailen Buck gave the most interesting sermon 1 had ever heard. I asked Gailen if he'd seen Gala Frazee and Linda Crow lately, and he said they had gone to Hawaii about five years ago. and hadn't gotten back yet. I spent a day in Los Angeles, Califor- nia, at the home of Vera Kelley, now Mrs. Marvyn Monson. I had a wonderful time with them and their three lovely children. From there 1 went to Hollywood. I just had to see this fabulous Elvis Presley. After talking to him awhile, he asked me to go to his office and meet his private secretary. I did, and was I ever surprised when he introduced me to Virgyln Lessenden. She was busy answering Elvis fan mail on a special typewriter, which was made and designed by Philip Hollis. It was guaranteed never to need any repairing. I arrived in New York around noon, so I went to a fancy downtown restaurant where Jimmie Seirer was the head chef. The meal was simply delicious, and I just couldn't seem to get enough to eat. It was a rather expensive place, but it was worth it. The papers were full of headlines about the rocket ship that was supposed to return from a trip to the moon, and would land that afternoon. I didn't want to miss this for anything. The rocket landed about two minutes after 1 got there, and as the pilot stepped out, I thought he looked familiar. As I pushed through the crowd to get a better view. I saw that the pilot was Allen Watts. Allen said the talk was out, that Kay Barnett was now the wife of General Earl Garner, and they were living in a beautiful home in Virginia. I went out to Madison Square Garden to see a special show featuring Betty Durrett. She had just won a National Championship twirling contest. I went by way of Washington, D. C. so I could see the President. When I got there, I was told he was in the hospital and his private nurse, Janice Williams, wouldn't let any visitors in to see him. I was really surprised, when I arrived in Eads, Colorado. Everything had changed so much. Don Brown, Jimmy Adamson and Harold Campbell were making millions off of their huge cattle ranches. They each owned four Cadillacs, so you can imagine. 1 went to the home of Mrs. Raymond Mays, the former Mable Mays said they now had a boys quartet and a girls' trio, and they all were as cute as they could be. As I was leaving Mable's, Mrs. George Holter, (Nadine Dunlap) drove up. She said she was in a hurry to get back home, as she had to help George shear the sheep, so I didn't get to talk to her very long. I just had to see the old Eads School again. When I got there, I saw they had built a brand new one, ten stories high, and painted purple and gold. Very attractive indeed! Charles Stucky was the superintendent, and Beverly Aldrich was teaching music. As I got about two miles east of Eads, I could see this part of the country was really becoming modern. Duane Williams and Loy Jones were hard at work constructing a transcontinental rolling road. I had never seen anything like it! Barbara Aldrich had gotten married recently, and was living in a SO room mansion. She designed it herself. My last stop was in Kentucky, where I arrived just in time to see Harold McKnight win the Kentucky Derby, with his famous horse. Lightening Chance. The program Director just told me I go on the air in two minutes so that means I have to sign off. So long!
