Since I was in the East now, I flew to New York where one of our favorite and very tal- ented classmates, Glenda Dye, was giving a piano concert, Glenda's concert was abso- lutely too thrilling for words. While I was back stage I learned that she is married to a minister in New York who is a star baseball player and that they have three lovely chil- dren. From New York I journeyed to Washington, D.C., where I met Phyllis Smith, who is working as a private secretary for the Navy. Phyllis told me that she is married to a handsome officer and they have two children. She said they are very happy living in a new penthouse that they bought. Then I toured the southern states. While I was in New Orleans, I stopped in at a fashion- able Fish Fry Shop where I found the owner to be Helen Freeman. Helen introduced me to her fisherman husband and six children. Helen said she was chairman of the Mardi Gras Festival that would be the following week and invited me to stay. So I had a gay week. In sunny California I visited Donna Reiswig, now married to the banker from Chivington. Dona said she was a part time lab technician but spent most of her time preparing baby formulas for her five children. She also keeps books for her husband; Dona accompanied me to the dock where I left for Hawaii in roy yacht, THE EAGLE. In Hawaii, I was a guest in the home of our class president, Verna Kelley, but married now--of course. Verna is a grade school teacher in the American schools there. Besides teaching, she is the proud mother of two boys and two girls. The boys are all very accom- plished athletes and the girls do the hula wonderfully. I did so regret leaving Hawaii but I still had to see some of my other classmates. Back in the states again, I went to Idaho. Near Sun Valley I visited Earl Garner. Earl owns a large horse ranch. His horses are as popular with the skiing enthusiasts as the ski lifts at the resorts, there in Sunny Valley. While Earl was showing me his ranch, I watch- ed a tall, blonde cowboy tame a terribly wild horse. When he dismounted I recognized the rider by his slow walk as Billy Barnett. Bill told me that he was down from Canada for the week end to help Earl with his fine horses and to visit his sister. From Earl’s ranch I went to Wyoming to visit Raymond Wissel near Yellowstone Park, Wyoming, where he has a registered Hereford cattle ranch. Raymond said he shows his cattle in the park during tourist season. I met Raymond’s wife; she too, was one of our underclassmates. Their five daughters have herds of cattle too. I had ended my journey and was very happy to get home to my husband and four children, and to make more preparations for the future dedication of the new gym. I hope you will be present at the dedication.
