History of School This fine building was built in the year 1937 to replace the old school building which was destroyed by fire. There are fifteen classrooms in this modern building. The school is adequate to accommodate three hundred and fifty students. An annex joins the main building which is used for two hundred and fifty hot lunches daily. If our enrollment continues to grow a new school will be neces- sary in the near future. Eads Public School MR. BARTA MRS. GREGSTON MISS MORRIS MRS. This article was written by Doris Lessenden as Alumni Editor of the paper. I have earned thousands of dollars in my jobs of singing on colored television and doing public social work. 1 have just completed an extended tour in my jet airplane during which I have visited all my classmates of the class of 1955 and invited them to meet next year, 1974, for an alumni convention at the dedication of the new gymnasium at Eads, Colorado. We left the money to start the fund for the new building. 1 am living in Rocky Ford, Colorado; therefore my nearest classmate is Gilbert Brown who is residing near Chivington on a 7,423 acre ranch. I found Gilbert in one of his many red barns working with his crossbreed cattle. Gil took me to his lovely western ranch house where I met his cute blond wife, one of our former schoolmates, and their six boys. I have a couple of classmates in Kansas so I went to Garden City first, to see Keith Uhland. 1 found him to be an influential wheat magnate. Keith's farm was immense; he had quonsets which seemed to be a mile long full of wheat and a beautiful home with all the modem conveniences, but no wife to enjoy it. From Garden City I went to Wichita, where I visited Carol Sue Dixon. I found her to be supervisor of the Telephone Company. Carol said she was married and had two children with very red hair. Carol's husband is engaged in maize farming and owns some oil wells in Kansas. I thought I should fly over to Kansas City to see some of my doctors while I was so near. Much to my surprise I found my dear friend, Madonna Wissel, as my doctor's assistant. Madonna said that she was a registered nurse and was now studying to be an orthopedic doctor. Her husband is an air force officer and they have three daughters. From Kansas City I flew up to Des Moines, Iowa, where Roy Brian was auditioning for a television exhibition having become world famous as a typist. On interviewing Roy I found that he owned and operated a private commercial school where he teaches his special techniques. Roy's wife is one of the teachers there. They make a charming couple as well as a wonderful typing team. Since I was near Minnesota, I flew up to see Gordon Buck who had gone there soon after his fascinating trip to that state with his dearly beloved. Now they own a large auto manufacturing company in St. Paul. I had a difficult time getting to see such an important man. Gordon’s cars are all very modern jet motored, with flashy paint jobs, and detachable wings. I bought a red one with three thousand of my millions. Sponsored by - OSOLItfS SERVICE STATION Since I was in the East now, I flew to New York where one of our favorite and very tal- ented classmates, Glenda Dye, was giving a piano concert, Glenda's concert was abso- lutely too thrilling for words. While I was back stage I learned that she is married to a minister in New York who is a star baseball player and that they have three lovely chil- dren. From New York I journeyed to Washington, D.C., where I met Phyllis Smith, who is working as a private secretary for the Navy. Phyllis told me that she is married to a handsome officer and they have two children. She said they are very happy living in a new penthouse that they bought. Then I toured the southern states. While I was in New Orleans, I stopped in at a fashion- able Fish Fry Shop where I found the owner to be Helen Freeman. Helen introduced me to her fisherman husband and six children. Helen said she was chairman of the Mardi Gras Festival that would be the following week and invited me to stay. So I had a gay week. In sunny California I visited Donna Reiswig, now married to the banker from Chivington. Dona said she was a part time lab technician but spent most of her time preparing baby formulas for her five children. She also keeps books for her husband; Dona accompanied me to the dock where I left for Hawaii in roy yacht, THE EAGLE. In Hawaii, I was a guest in the home of our class president, Verna Kelley, but married now--of course. Verna is a grade school teacher in the American schools there. Besides teaching, she is the proud mother of two boys and two girls. The boys are all very accom- plished athletes and the girls do the hula wonderfully. I did so regret leaving Hawaii but I still had to see some of my other classmates. Back in the states again, I went to Idaho. Near Sun Valley I visited Earl Garner. Earl owns a large horse ranch. His horses are as popular with the skiing enthusiasts as the ski lifts at the resorts, there in Sunny Valley. While Earl was showing me his ranch, I watch- ed a tall, blonde cowboy tame a terribly wild horse. When he dismounted I recognized the rider by his slow walk as Billy Barnett. Bill told me that he was down from Canada for the week end to help Earl with his fine horses and to visit his sister. From Earl’s ranch I went to Wyoming to visit Raymond Wissel near Yellowstone Park, Wyoming, where he has a registered Hereford cattle ranch. Raymond said he shows his cattle in the park during tourist season. I met Raymond’s wife; she too, was one of our underclassmates. Their five daughters have herds of cattle too. I had ended my journey and was very happy to get home to my husband and four children, and to make more preparations for the future dedication of the new gym. I hope you will be present at the dedication. Sponsor - MRS.
