Too many people, I fear, think a high school education is not important. However, in my opinion, those who do not finish will soon re- gret it. To you the class of 1952, who continued, even though the going was hard, I congratulate you for your faithfulness. Roy D. Farthing ANNUAL STAFF Seated-W. DUNLAP, Advertising Co-Manager; F. The Legion Hall was crowded as we made our way to our seats. We were attending a banquet in honor of the seniors of '52. As Wanda Dunlap, Theresa Rutledge, and I walked across the dining room, we saw many of our old classmates. As we approached our seats, we saw three charming ladies, standing next to us and chatting gaily. We looked the second time to make sure, and we saw that it was Dorothy Carthel, Betty Patton, and Dorothy Wimp. After much hand shaking and laughing we were told that they were all three nurses, employed at the St. Mary's Hospital in Pueblo. As we took our seats, we noticed two very handsome service men sitting next to us. The black, curly-haired sailor was Maynard Amerine, our favorite football player. We weren't too sure about the other boy, but Gordon Mast informed us that his uniform was of the Merchant Marine. Maynard told us about his encounter with Joyce Nelson, who was now a famous opera singer. She was unable to attend because of a previous engage- ment with the Metropolitan. As we were eating our salad, we noticed two distinguished looking women sitting across the table. We immediately recognized the lady with the rosy cheeks and lovely complexion. It was Vivian Deinlein, who was a first grade teacher in Denver. With her was our old friend and buddy, Rosemary Schmitt, who was a commercial teacher also employed in Denver schools. They had come together in Miss Deinlein's new Cadillac. Miss Schmitt was wearing a lovely creation, which we learned was designed by another of our old classmates, Carolyn Jackson. She is the fashion designer for VOGUE. Vivian told us of the new home she was building. Her interior decorator was Esther Amyx, whom we had also gone to school with. She owned her own business, and was doing quite well. As the evening was drawing to a close, we met Junior Criswell and Ila Belle Mills. We learned they were employed with a lumber firm in Oregon. Junior was a lumberjack, and Ila Belle was the private secretary. After bidding them goodby, we hurried to our waiting families. Our husbands were baby sitting. - Lois Jean Holter - First Row; Mr. Wright, Sharyn Abrams, Joyce Aldrich, May Morton, Pattie Dunlap, Dorothy Kaza, Wanda Laird, Verta Belle Kochj Second Row; Byron Lynn, Larry Brendlinger, Bruce Fischer, Betty Kelley, Richard Baxter, David Baxter Frances Bird, Third Row; Marvin Richardson, Bob Greenwell, Earl Kelley Jr., John Holter, Charles Crow, Bill Mast, Henry Baxter, Tom Stoker.
