Cultural Experiences In the foreign language department this year, there were two new teachers: Ms. Stanoch and Ms. Buehtow, teaching French and German respectively. Both added a new style to the excellent old one. A big part of French this year was the study of the culture of France. In French I, the everyday things which the French use were taught. French II and III developed these more, and finally IV and V utilized these basics when applying them to art and literature. How, after all, can one appreciate a language if they don't understand the people who speak it? Students in German were encouraged to form quick responses. During this Bicentennial, they recognizied Germans who contributed to America. Spanish is more than just a language foreign from our own. Spanish is a heritage — a way of life — for over 30 million people of the World. By experiencing elements such as cuisine, dance, music, and literature the student was able to better understand those many people. In general the language department looked very nice this year. Along with an all new lab, the walls were painted and the lab made to look interesting with posters, maps, and all kinds of cultural things.
