' CLASS POEM fhen morning turns to evening When evening turns to night, So we must relinquish our carefree days To assume a different plight To our destinies, our fates, our aspirations We now turn our sights. For three years we strived for excellence For three years you gave your all- Now, that the future is in our hands These lessons we recall. As we broaden our horizons And go on to higher heights With the standards of dignity and grace We ' ll run, we ' ll win, we ' ll fight- We ' re ready for the race. And so, Smith high, our journey begins Into the mainstream of life With the courage and hope that make » manl We ' 11 find our island and light the bes m of excellence. Cheryle Smith ISLANDS OF EXCELLENCE As the good ship of fortune docks at the port of opportu- nity--We gather better job opportunities and more voca- tional training to start our journey. Our wind tossed vessel travels over the stormy seas, we reach the port of Humanity. Here we find avenues of love, justice, and decency. Our crew, the class of 1966, learns that man is dependent on man and that man belongs to man. With these virtues in mind, we put our fate in the wind and sail on to our Islands of Excellence. 15 Cheryle Smith
