CHO0L ACTIVITIE .IUNICR SEINIOR BANOUET OF 51 On Apr1l Z0 1951 the .Tumor class entertalned the Semors and Faculty members at the annual sprmg ban 4 t whlch was held at the Communlty Bu1ld 1ng A Starlmte theme was carrled throughout the whole evemng Dancmv was provlded ln the upstaxrs wh1ch was lav1shly decorated Ln keepmg wxth the theme SENIOR JUNIOR PROM Every fall the Senlors always g1ve the .Iunxors a prom Not because of trad1t1on but because 1t always turns out to be a lot of fun On Oct 18th at 8 OO p m the Harvest Ball was underway The gym was decorated beautlfully wxth all the harvest colors 1nclud1ng purnpkxns squash and everyth1ng that IS trad1t1onal of the fall season XMAS PROGRAM The theme of th1s years Xmas program was how the many d1fferent countrles all over the world celebrate the bmrth of Chrlst Jesus All ofthe grade school Jr Hxgh the combmed h1gh school Boy's and G1rl's Choruses and band Jomed together to present one ofthe best Xmas programs Thls program was d1rected by Beverly Moderow and Burtls Burow JUNIOR SENIOR BANQUET OF 52 The Senlors and Faculty were enterta1ned by the .Tumors at the annual .lunlor Senlor Banquet on Aprxl 18 1952 The theme was Treasure Island The upsta1rs was complete 1n decoratxon w1th a cave and p1rates all around The mus1c for the dance was provxded by Earl Dunn s band after the toast program MAY DANCE The G A A sponsored a May Dance wh1ch was May 9th at the I-hgh School gym The whole hlgh school body was 1nv1ted Falryland Was the maln theme Durlng the evenlng a Prxnce and Prlncess WaS CIIOSCI1 fI'OI'1'1 the SCIIIOI' Class winch was W1lbert Stueck and Nancy Hanson Each recewed a glft for hav1ng thls honor A SpCC1al program was also on the agenda 1nclud1ng vocal and ln strurnental solos and a faxry dance by slx of the G A A members 15 r v 7 ! SENIOR TRIPS On March llth the Soclology Class took the1r f1rst trlp They went to the State Hosp1tal at Independence The trlp proved very educatlonal m that they were able to see how people lxve and are cared for who have mental dlseases The Semors next went to Vmton Apr1l 4th to the State Brallle and Slghtsavmg School They were led on an mterestmg tour over the whole campus by two of the students for the school After the tour they reahzed the vast tmportance of takmg good care of the1r eyes Also Darlys IS gomg to keep a better watch on her purse she left lt 1n the lrbrary lucky she has a good memory The f1rst two tr1ps the senxors took were only afternoon events But on Aprll 17th they took the whole day off to go to M aterloo The mormng was spent at Rath' vmewmg the d1fferent departments of thls huge meat packmg company The semors decmded that Rath's was qu1te spread out because some of them ended up wtth a few bllsters Also we heard that a few of the g1rls wouldn't care to work there be cause of the unlque aroma but the boys were qurte anxrous to leave too Everyone then left for dmner and later met at the John Deere Plant at 1 o'clock The senxors thought thelr h1ke that mornxng was long but concluded after thexr tour through John Deere s that lt was only a l1ttle Jaunt In fact therr tour through Deere's was two and a half mlles long VEISHEA To end the ser1es of trlps for the 5en1ors May 16th they headed for Vexshea desplte the cold ra1ny weather After the H S Convocatlon wh1ch was a short meetlng of all the H S students that had come for Vemshea Hlgh School Day the class spl1t up and went on themr merry way Also at th1s meetlng we found wrth m our m1dst Z5 of Iowa s outstandrng h1gh school students As usual Dysart Hlgh always comes through Two of our senlors Jay Aschenbrenner and Shlrley Wxese were a part of that honored group The senlors spent the afternoon gomg to Vodv1l the stage play 'Harvey' and vlsltmg the many campus buxldxngs whrch were hav1ng open house Stars over Velshea that evenmg completed the day for the semor class They were really a txred group of people but lt IS qulte ev1dent at least the way they talk that they enjoyed themselves very much 16 1 . u - - .
