They performed to all kinds of different music and had the people jammin with them. Every summer the girls go to camp and bring back all kinds of awards, and this year proved no different. They won a Sweepstakes Trophy, Home Routine Tro- phy. The Spirit Stick, they were finalists for the award of Excellance. they were SEVE awarded a Superior Squad Ribbon and won 26 blue rib- bons in all. Two of the girls, Monica Baker and Yvonne Rodri- guez, won the Celebrity Sweepstakes Medal Qwhich is the highest award a pom girl may receivej. Monica's won this award 3 times and Yvonne twice. They were also asked to be part of the NCA Pom Staff. Building up Spirit at Dy- sart High School is a tough job. but the pom girls made it look easy. ARCHING IN STYLE Behind the scenes at each football game and Pep As- sembly sat the Dysart High School Marching Band. Along with the band came the flagline, and the Majorette team. As the batons twirled, the flags waved and the instruments played, all the football games were given that extra touch of pizzazl The band has performed many times this year, including the Winter Concert in February, the Spring Concert, the District School Performance in May, and The Rodeo of Rodeos Parade in March. But one of the most exciting performances of the year and the most fun was probably the trip to California. During the Spring, the band, flagline. and maiorettes packed up their uniforms, instruments, flags and batons and were Disneyland boundll This years flagline was super. Ida Arnold and Becky Garcia went to camp and received several superior awards. Those included three together, one each, a tro- phy, and lda won a medal. This year all the flag members are to attend camp. There were three maiorettes this year. None of them have ever twirled for the school before, and they are looking forward to winning many awards. The awards band has won were excellent ratings at NAU Band Day, and the State Marching Festival. Mr. Kinnaman was the band director and has done a wonderful job.
