ENGLISH AND R ADING ON THE RO'LL lt's jammin' and all the way live! says Clifton Reaux. English with Mr. Butler is really interesting, explains Candy Smith, because he really gets into it and you never know what to expect. This was the talk of the English classes. Many worked hard to do a good job and new books were used to help them. lt was necessary to work hard since English was a required class. Armida Cisneros felt, English this year was different because it had many challengesf' Reading also had many challenges, since a ninth grade level had to be met to graduate. Many worked hard in these classes to reach their individual goals. Also a new program went into effect to help students in the Reading class. The program was the student tutor program. It worked out well and many enjoyed it. ONEQ Ricky Ramirez finds the girl at the door much more interesting. TWOQ Doesn't he have physiquel says Diane. S., , M... - PECIAL EFFECTS What do Bilingual, Migrant workshop, Re- source, Home Ee.. Driver Ed., and Challenge all have in common? They are all part of the special effects that make up the Dysart high school set. The bilingual class teaches monolingual stu- dents how to use and improve their English skills. lt helps them to adjust to a new culture, environ- ment, and a new language. Migrant workshop is a class that provides career opportunities on cam- pus for migrant students. The students in this class get paid to learn. Resource provides assistance for students who have academic difficulties due to a handicap which includes but is not limited to a learning disability. Driver education teaches students the skills necessary for safe and defensive driving. After receiving both classroom and behind the wheel instruction, students are eligible to get their dri- vers license and a discount on insurance. Special effects make a movie more fun and exciting and the special effects here at Dysart are no exception!
