The new looks were punk glasses, knickers. letter and member's only jackets, and vans. Polo shirts were also in, along with the ruffle shirts. The fads of the year were video games and three wheelers. The most popular games were Pac-Man, Frog- ger, Defender, Ms. Pac-Man, and Centipede. Also popu- lar this year were three stuffed animals: E.T., Smurf. and Garfield. These two famous stars caused a lot of excitement in both news- papers and television. Other news-mak- ing events were Olivia Newton John get- ting physical with all the other aerobic dancers. the victory of the Washington Redskins in the Superbowl, the dreadful Tylenol Legacy. Barney Clark and his plastic heart, De Lorian's cocaine bust, the retirement of Sugar Ray. and Alex- ander Haig quitting his iob as Sec. of State. A sad note in the news was the loss of some great people like Princess Grace of Monaco, comedian John Belushi, and ac- tor Henry Fonda. The lowering of the gas prices. a budget that wouIdn't budge. the Falkland Island incident, and the death of Leonard Brezhnev which created a fear of war in the United States were just a few examples of the political news which brought this broadcast to an end. Due to the fact that many of the players were moved up to varsity, the J.V. team re- corded wins against Buckeye, Phx. Christian and Wickenburg. Overall the J.V. team showed their spirit and promised to be great on next years varsity team. ln the beginning of the year there was doubt as to whether or not there would be a freshman team. Soon boys who wanted to play started recruiting their friends. Without an adequate amount of practice the freshman players took the field. They are all part of the special effects that make up the Dysart high school set. The bilingual class teaches monolingual stu- dents how to use and improve their English skills. lt helps them to adjust to a new culture, environ- ment, and a new language. Migrant workshop is a class that provides career opportunities on cam- pus for migrant students. The students in this class get paid to learn. Resource provides assistance for students who have academic difficulties due to a handicap which includes but is not limited to a learning disability. Driver education teaches students the skills necessary for safe and defensive driving. After receiving both classroom and behind the wheel instruction, students are eligible to get their dri- vers license and a discount on insurance. DYSART PUBLI wa.-:Q TWC X FOU OLIR STAGE CREW TAKE ONEl Cooking, running the snack bar, driving the buses, and main- taining the campus are all important jobs at Dysart High School. lf it wasn't for the cooks, the snack bar and cafeteria wouldn't have sold one hundred breakfasts or over seven hundred lunches a day. Once a month the cooks had a National School Lunch Day. That's when they all dressed up like the nationality of the dish they served. One cook said. lt was a lot of fun. The snack bar was busy with two hundred customers in a half hour. The student helpers were lda Arnold, Kellie Gober, Yolanda Crudder, Joe Escobedo, and Robert Cisneros. The manager of the snack bar was Pat Sikora. lf it wasn't for the bus drivers and Maintainance men. nobody would get to school on time or have a clean campus once they got here. The bus drivers had a very busy day. They drove a total of twelve hundred and forty-two miles a day. They drove a total of two hundred and eighty-seven thousand and ninety-nine miles a year. The maintainance men were important because they were responsible for having everything in the best of shape on campus. All these people worked behind the scenes to help make the Dysart High School set the best: that it could be. A REAL Award Winner. Give them a hand!
