Zhlrd ' Division ENSIGN M. LINKHART ASW OFFICER Xenia, Ohio The primary mission of DYESS is to detect, track and destroy enemy sub- marines in time of war. The men of Third Division are the technicians who are immediately responsible for ac- complishing this mission. Theirs is the LTJGD. IRWIN FORMER ASW OFFICER Chevy Chase, Md. responsibility of maintaining the SONAR, ASROC and torpedo armament in the highest state of readiness. Third Division Is composed of Sonarmen, Asroc Gunners-mates and Torpedomen. They are a proud and knowledgeable team, diverse in training yet inter-dependent for the success of various jobs.
