THE HOMEMAKING FAMILY The Homemaking Family has experienced quite a busy school year with many varied experiences, activities and happenings. It seems that by the time we really get to know each other, the school year is over. In addition to the very busy homeeroutined jobs, all members have in one way or another participated in most of the schoolls extra curricular programs, and each has earned outstanding recognition in his field of accomplishments. Some were taking guitar lessons. others were developing their athletic abilities for the Olympics, others were busy with their basketball practices. Cheerleading obligations. you name it, and if it meant additional recognition for DYER SCHOOL, the Homemaking Family was represented. Their school year will close with a Family luncheon at Holieay Inn, and as each goes his way during the summer months, all of their friends and acquaintances wish them a very pleasant summer and a delightful vacation. The Homemakers Virginia Hardy, Teacher

GIRL SCOUTS The young ladies of Dyer School are fortunate to be able to participate in one of three Girl Scout Troops. Using the Girl Scout Junior Handbook as a guide, the girls work for Badge Awards. The scouts receive the guidance and personal help of Ms. Leslie Lynk, Co-director of Human Development Services at Great Rivers Council of the Girl Scouts of America. Badges earned by the various troops include Craft, Personal Hygiene. Qgtdoor Life and Dancing. The GlrI Scouts also conduct flag ceremonies at Dyer School P.T.A. meetings. Two of the more outstanding projects of the girls will be considered for the Community Service Award. Troop t985 at Dyer School presented the play SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, for their teachers and schoolmates. Troop $1288 joined a sister Junior troop from the Queen City Neighborhood to go Christmas Caroling at Children's Hospital. The Dyer School Girl Scout Troop t985 is unique in that it meets during school hours. Mr. George Greisemer, principal, has allowed time and space for the girls to each lunch together and to attend their meetings. The leaders of this troop wish to thank him and the many others who help them - Mrs. Bobbie Fairfax, Mrs. Myrtice Falkenstein, Mrs. Jane Natilson, the teachers of the Scouts and the Dyer School secretaries. All the leaders of these fine Girl Scout Troops should be commended for their hard work. Their efforts are not in vain. The Scouts have much fun - and even learn while enjoying themselves.
