DYER SCHOOL CHEERLEA DEBS The cheerleaders were organized during the 1972-73 school year by Mrs. Bobbie Fairfax, who still coordinates this activity. The Booster Club was organized last year and lends a background of enthusiasm and spirit to everyone. THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT It has been another exciting year in the Physical Education Department. New teachers, new activities and a respected visitor highlighted the 1974-75 school year. ' Three additional staff members assumed their daties in September. Mrs. Pat Veith from Mt. St. Joseph College, Tom Boise: from the University of Cincinnati and Mrs. Mary May, who had previously taugh in Fonica, Illinois made it possible for the Physical Education Department to increase services to all age levels. including prewsehools and Adult Activity Centers. A gymnastics team composed of younger children was formed by Sue Dauner and Barb Steele. The team practiced twice weekly and performed with enthusiasm to the delight of the audiences at both the school Christmas program and the January P.T.A. meeting. Special Olympics again was a pppular program with over 200 students from Dyer participating. As usual, Dyer students collected their share of gold medals. Finally. an May 2, the Physical Education Department hosted the annual in- service day. It was a pleasure for the department to have as it's guest, Dr. Julian stein, a noted educator from Washington D.C. Dr. Stein was featured in a day-long program, ihvolving both students and teachers, to demonstrate innovative teaching techniques which promote physical and academic development.
