Language - Old and New PRESENT DAY STUDENTS OF LATIN re-create the past by making small models of Roman temples, char- iots, and ships, and by painting murals showing scenes from Rome's history. Here Richard Shubert is showing the Class a Roman warship made by Mike Chermak. SEEING MAY BE BELIEVING, but it is also a way of learning how to understand and interpret sym- bols used to mark the pronuncia- tion of words. Vocabulary study is a basis part of the English course in all grades. Al Wilcher and Mike Chermak study the chart in the junior English classroom. Y SONGS, CUSTOMS, AND TRADI- TIONS OF OLD SPAIN enliven class- room study of Spanish. First year stu- dents look forward every year to the making of the Christmas pinata. Pic- tured here is Judy Darnell making a report on one of our Latin-American neighbors.
