'mi x .A 25 V , 1 Q.: k,?h,?Vf' t. -L,,lm'A V ,L f .ti , YE ,, fa 1-.F q X M3 We L fb Ev 'dvi' 1 fa -Nr -s lib!-Q I In the halls of D Before survive the Soon after initiation, tue freshmen held their f rat class resting electlng the following officers Jack York, President Ted Patterson, Vice President, and Phyllis Olson, Secretary Treasurer 'r Hendrix was the sponsor, the class colors were green and white the class flower was the red carnation, and the motto was 'Push, pull or get out of the way fall of '50 fifteen scared freshmen crept into the nhallowed they were accepted as part of the student body, they had to harrowing experience of initiation The freshman outing was a fishing party at Lake Council Grove The following spring the class of '54 entertained the eighth grade with a picnic on the last day of school at Lake Council Grove Thirteen members of the class returned the sophomore year, and Mrs Hendrix was the sponsor The sophomore officers were Jack York, President Barbara Moore, Vice President, Donna Goss, Secretary, and Joyce Miller Treasurer During the first semester the class had a picnic at Junction City Park and attended the show During the second semester the class acted as host for the all school George Washington Party in February The class sponsor for the Junior year was Miss Jevons, and the officers were as follows Barbara Moore, President, Joyce Miller, Vice President, Marilyn Church, Secretary, and Roger Parker, Treasurer The Junior play, 'The Midnight Sun was presented December 5, and was proclaimed a reat success The class of '54 entertained the school with a Christmas arty During this year the class lost two members Selling Christmas and assorted cards increased the capital of this illustrious group In the spring of the junior year the class of '54 was responsible for the annual Junior Senior banquet. The theme was nSouth Seas. At the beginning of the senior and final year initiation of the thirteen green freshmen preceded the all school lawn party. Senior officers were as follows: Barbara Moore, Presidentg Phyllis Olson, Vice President, Donna Goss, Secretaryg Joyce Miller, Treasurer' and Tony Reynoso, Student Council. Coach Panesis was the class sponsor. Financial operations included selling magazines, the venture was a success. On January 6, Glenn Bacon came to take the senior pictures. - livery of the photographs proved that, with its countless other talent, the class was photogenic. The first semester social activity was a picnic at the Junction City Park followed by attending a show. The dramatic success of the year, the Senior Play, was given April 27 1954. , On May 1 the Juniors honored the class of '54 with the Junior Senior banquet. This highlight of the social calendar was most enjoyable. During this year the class published the school paper and the annual in addition to making distinguished contributions to the musical and sth letlc events of the school year. The last week of the hardest but best year of school brought Class Night, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. As a finale a class trip to the Ozarks has been planned. as . . CLASS PROPHECY In l970, Professor Kerpotkins came sliding down a moonbeam through the Milky Way until he reached the metropolis of Dwight, now the capital of the world While seeking information about the wonderful earth people Professor Kerpotkins came upon the records of Dwight Rural High Schoo Suddenly there appeared before his eyes the astounding facts of that ex ceptional class of 1954 The futures of these students sounded so promls ing that he decided to trace them down With his atomic motor strapped on his back, he began his unpredictable expedition by pulling the zip cord that released the needed energy to send him well on his way to his first destination The radar controlled a paratus landed him safely in the back yard of a very elaborate mansion e was fascinated by the most intriguing music he had ever heard which came flowing out of one of the windows from the fifty fourth stor Upon investigating, he found Madame Nelee Marie for merly Nellie May owen teaching President T J Reynoso's talented brats her own brilliant rendition of Serenade in Z minor, which is commonly known by the less cultured class of people as 'chopst1cks After the lesson, Professor Kerpotkins followed the Pres1dent's pri vate car to the White House where he found a former Dwight Hural High School student busily exerting himself by sorting out his stamp collection, which is well known as Tony Reynoso's Folly' President Keynoso, who is known for his humorous ways, has become an idol of the American public Tony's rendition of Jerry Lew1s's neat and humorous technique has proven to be the most successful administration to go down in history' Satisfied that another student had achieved success, Professor Ker potkins pulls the zip cord of his flying machine and finds himself on a trip over the Atlantic until he finally arrives at Paris, France, where another member of the class of '54 has achieved success because of her new creation in hat styles Her most famed creation is the 'Holiday Breakfast' which is a flip flo pan cake dish trimmed in sausages and topped with cranberry sauce his new fad is world wide known and to own one is the main desire of all women Through this Donna has made millions and acquired the title of number one magazine cover girl Leaving gay Paree, he decided to return to the United States by Way of the west coast While trying to land a few miles from L A his supply of fuel ran out so that he was forced to make a crash landing When he regain d consciousness, he found himself being cared for by a cute little nurse nam d Katy Because of her sweet and understanding ways he realized that this girl could be none other than Marilyn Church formerly a student of Dwi ht Kural High, Class of '54 Although Marilyn is married to that famous crooner, Gary Crosby, she stlll finds time to care for her three small children and perform her duties at the hospital After a brief conversation with Marilyn, the professor learned that the reason for his survival was the skill of the doctor who '54 was Dr Phyllis Olson who established this hospital after graduating from nurses' training and deciding to co plete work for her doctorate of medicine bhe has maintained her bachelor independence and her most famous quota ion is Men are good eg s as eg s run, but who wants runny eg son Due to Phyll1s's and Narilyn's excellent care, his speed recovery found him up and around and well on ris way to the Lone Star tate where he found that rough and rug ed Jack York , sole owner of the B Bar B ranch where thousands of cattle graze it was impossible for Jack to settle down to a dull life, as a hobby he finances a chorus show of glamorous alrls which differs slightly Kto Jack's liking, from the cattle business The next stop is in that beautiful mountainous country of Wyoming where upon arriving he finds the world wide horse race in full swing At the starting gate there stands no other than that successful horse owner, Barbara Moore, who had entered the promising wlnnervyan of War H This horse is only one of the many winners to be found ln her herd of horses that roam the paddocks Besides her abi11ty to raise first place winners, she has a s at in Congress as Senator from Wyoming for pin money she spends her leisure time writing poetry which appears in the Planetary Monthly 0 D 1. This doctor also from the class of l ' L . - e , T While wa1c1ng to be served dinner at Barb1e's,the professor was listening to some before dinner music when suddenly the program was interrupted to bring a flash bulletin of that world famed team, the Planet Trotters coached by none other than that former all American, Ted Patterson, a former member of the class of '54 Finishing dinner Prefessor Kerpotkins hurried to Madison Square Garden to watch these players keep their world championship title Leaving the court un defeated, Coach Ted went home to his wife and quintuplets which are the the basketball stars of tomorrow On the next trip we find the Professor on his way to that Land of Enchantment, Hawa11 Upon arriving, his thirst over came him, he dropped a nickel into a slot drinking machine and a stream of coconut milk quenched his thirst lhe drink was so tasty and so satisxying that he decided to find out where it had originated He was very much surprised to find that Kiss Joyce Miller had established a large coconut grove after graduating from college and come to Hawaii to relax Dhe liked living here so well that she made her home here among the natives natives 1earn1ng to do the hula hula CShe is becoming quite an expert Leavlng 531311 he checks his list to find that he still has two members to find Deciding to find Koger Parker first, he set off for Texas where he had heard that Roger was jet ace Upon arriving at Lackland Air field, he saw a sudden streak fly by him and knew it must be Roger Roger had made the record of breaking the light barrier going 186,243 miles a second His pride and joy are his wife and his three little aces, which keep him busy with their demands for piggy back rides The last person on the list is bhlrley Switver, who was last sean in Alaska, running an Ice Cold Coca Cola stand, she is said to have the coldest business in the world Since Shirley arrived in Alaska the Eskimos have become very glamorous with their curly locks The reason for this is Shirley s frigid wave of which she is very proud After finding each member of the Dwight Rural High School class of '54 enjoying life and successful in their varied career fields, Professor Kerpotkins decided to return to the moon With a pall of the zip cord, he zoomed from the earth anxiously awaiting his arrival on the moon so that he could relate to his people the story of his findings about Dwight Rural High School, Class of '54 ' I . : I ' In her spare time she :oaches a tennis team and takes lessons from the ' ' ., I ' 1 I ' ' MBMIN1 we TIONf 5 .Q-S'fbX X Q 2 t 4. f W7 if V, V fi .
