Lbeobcafion Coach john Wfinkin, born in Englewood, graduated from our school in 1937. He was a Dwight Morrow athlete, earning his letters in soccer, basketball and baseball. In Duke University he was a three-letter man, too. He was commissioned in the Navy in Aug- ust 1941. Wiiikin was at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. During the World Wzir, he was in every major battle in the Pacific- Coral Sea, Midway and the surrender of japan. He was honorably discharged, after five years of service, with the high rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U. S. N. R. After returning to civilian life, he became a member of the staff of Sfwrfrr magazine. But soon he returned to his first love-high school athletics. Every bit of his day is now devoted to the athletics of Dwight Morrow. Wfith great pleasure we dedicate the Engle Log of 1954 to you. Thanks john! pl an lui , LYl9'7f'Y0 5.3859 sua, 1
