CAPT Douglas R. Roulstone is a native of Norfolk, Va., born the son of a Navy captain. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography. He received a Master of Science Degree in Systems Technology from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1982 and completed joint professional military education at the Aimed Forces Staff College in 1988. Following his commissioning he served as Gunnery Officer on USS Albert David CDE 10501 where he qualified as Officer of the Deck COODD and Combat Information Center CCICD Evaluator. Following his first sea duty tour he attended flight school and was designated as a naval aviator in Febru- ary 1975. His first aviation assignment was NAS Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Wash., as an H-46 search and rescue pilot. He reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Twelve CHS-125 in San Diego, Calif., in August 1977. As part of Carrier Air Wing Eleven CCVW-llj, he deployed to the Mediterranean aboard USS America CCV 661. After completing graduate school, he reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Six CHS-65 in March 1983, where he served as Operations Officer and Safety Officer during deployments to the westem Pacific and Indian Oceans. In August 1985 he reported to the office of the Chief of Naval Operations as the aide and administrative assistant to the Director, Navy Program Planning. In May 1988 he reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Twelve CHS-125, homeported in Yokosuka, Japan, as Executive Officer and assumed command in September 1989. As part of Carrier Air Wing Five QCVW-55, embarked on USS Midway CCV 415, he made extensive deployments to the western Pacific, Indian Ocean, and Persian Gulf where he served in Operation Desert Storm. He reported to the Bureau of Naval Personnel as the Joint Duty Officer Manager CPERS-4553 in March 1991. He completed Nuclear Power School at Orlando, Fla., in April 1992 and was then assigned as Execu- tive Officer on USS Dwight E. Eisenhower CCVN 695 in September 1993. CAPT Roulstone has accumulated over 3,500 fight hours. His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and several campaign awards. CAPT Roulstone is married to the former Bonnie R. Kroon of Seattle, Wash., and is the father of two sons, Whitney and- Harrison.
