His numerous jobs and responsibilities such as selling tickets at Saturday morning football games and opening the vend- ing machine promptly at two o'cIock are just two examples of what a fine person he is. His pride and dedication to his work are obvious to all who come in contact with him. He expects the best from his students and gives no less in return. It gives us the greatest pleasure to dedicate our yearbook to a man whose genuine warmth and sense of humor leave us with nothing less than a feeling of pride for having known him. In expression of our deepest thanks and appreciation, we dedicate our yearbook to Mr. G. Leigh- ton. - 4 5 ,fx X Q., i don't know where i'm going and i'm not sure what i'll find when i get there the only thing i do know is that i'm going somewhere but it doesn't mean my childhood's over deep inside i'Il always be a child it's something which can't be lost the past is precious and the future is exciting what will i be? where will i go? the only way to begin to unravel the question is to follow my heart and start dreaming . . . The highlight of the even- ing was the crowning of Sara Beeby as Prom Queen with Lau- rie Hamilton and Meridith Clapp as her court. Special thanks go to Mary Killian and the prom com- mittee for their dedication. Their hard work transformed a drab tennis court into an elegant ball- room: the setting for a night which will always be rernem- oered. fl S Beeby Queen and her court. Chosen as Homecoming Queen was Jill Cadigan with Emily Dewire and Kelly Donahue as her court The Kings were John Ar- nold, John Antaya, and Jimmy White. On Saturday, after an exciting parade, The Dragons showed their might by sinking the Clippers C6-OJ, at the annu- al Homecoming game. The climax of the weekend was a dance held that night to celebrate a memorable Home- coming. The Fans 10 .4 I I M. Clapp, C. Knoblock, J. Sullivan, S, Housek, M. Leonard, M. A. ORCHESTRA The Duxbury High School Orchestra, conducted by Jim Vinci, has grown con- stantly throughout its three-year history. They perform at Christmas, and again in the Spring. They also participate in an exchange concert. Members of the Orchestra have represented D.H.S. at District and S.E.M.S.B.A. festivals. JAZZ BAND The seventeen-piece Jazz-Rock Ensemble, under the direction of Mark Gosce- minski, succeeded this year in attaining its most solid and well-balanced sound yet. The repetoire ranged from Big Band Jazz to Top Forty. Mr. G. and the band have hopes of competing against high school ensembles from surrounding towns as they did last year when they placed third at the Class B. competition. The band loses three seniors this year, but young talent such as eighth grade lead trombonist Steve Kauffman, provide the group with promise for more success in the future. CHOIR The Choir was under the direc- tion of Roger Jarvis for the first part of the year, and Mark Gos- ceminski for the second. After thirty years of being the dedi- cated director, Mr. Jarvis retired after the Christmas Season came to a close. The Choir per- forms two concerts a year. One is at Christmas and the other in the Spring. The Choir also sings at Nursing Homes as well as at oth- er schools.
