T UU SAULjfLJfUi A U l Cgijiilj -- -- S ki ll lei l Last spring on the evening of May 30th, if one were to look for the members of DHS, he would have had much difficulty. After searching far and wide, at last the students could be found, transformed into elegantly dressed couples, entering a beautiful castle, set up on a hill and overlooking the ocean: One would expect to see King Arthur among the fair ladies and men as they danced their way through the castle. Highlights of the evening were the crowning of Holly Alves as the queen, with Lucy Kent and Nancy Schaffer as her court, and the announcement of James Small as the new Student Council President. A delic- ious dinner was served afterwards, with more dancing to top it all off, Many old traditions were broken in the planning of the prom, with dinner and dancing both at the May- flower Inn. Modern music completed the scene. The Class of '70 is proud to have presented such a memor- able evening. -Z fi'

American Fie cz' Service l've spent ten years in boarding schools with a government scholarship in Adana Mersin and Diyarbakir respectively. My school is quite new, specializing in more English courses. Diyarbakir, the I4th largest city, is located in the South-East and was built about 2000 BC. Turkey is situated in just about the same altitude as Massachusetts, and there is no difference in the climate. Because of its situation in the Middle East it has been one of the important lands since the beginning of history in politics, as it still is now. ' I like travelling, taking pictures and music. I love meeting people from different parts of the world and from different ways of life. I am interested in social studies, especially philosophy and politics. I like to joke and to have good times with my friends. I will miss you at the end of this year, maybe forever. But there is one thing that I will never miss, love: the love of people and of humanity. I really like Duxbury and New England, believe mel I came from Brittainy, a peninsula which goes far out into the Atlantic Ocean. If the sea was not curved, you would be able to see Brest, the town where l live, from Duxbury Beach. Our two countries are similar in the weather, in the big beaches, and the rocky points. The people are very different in my country. They are very cold. They often like to shut themselves into an intimate group of two or three people. When the people walk in the towns and country, they often forget to look up at the sky and the sun. They know only the grey of the wet streets. I Here I have found the people open, ioyful, and always smiling at each other. They always like to know better their neighbors, their country, and their world. lf you have lived under a grey, rainy and sad sky in Brittainy, you can appreciate I more the sun. And then Britainy, along with North America, is the most beautiful country in the world. PQ O ln late June, I arrived in Durban, South Africa after a twenty-five hour flight from New York. There I met my family of three boys and two girls. My host father is a wine merchant for a Cape wine company. During the first few weeks I went on a safari to Zululand. For six weeks I atten- ded Newforest School for Boys where I took seven subiects. Surfing is an enthusias- tic sport there and before I left Durban, we had a seventeen foot surf. After leaving Durban late in August, I went to Johannesburg for five days. While there I went to a gold mine and to a tribal dance. From there I toured Salis- bury, Rhodesia, Luanda, Angola, and Lisbon, Portugal. It was a very rewarding summer. Jgmfx puEEfYy
