T F964 class liistor We, the class of 1964, entered KINDERGARTEN in the fall of 1951. We began our theatrical reputation with a Christmas play, in which Richard Hendrick and Phina Borgeson were featured as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, respectively, while the rest of the class, taste- fully attired in red paiamas with flap bottoms, portrayed elves. Our next major production was on the last day of school. The members of the class acted out various nursery rhymes. We moved on to FIRST GRADE and the esoteric pleasures of Dick, Jane and Spot. We also performed in the school operetta, in which each class had a part. The girls in our class wore crepe paper bows in their hair. ln SECOND GRADE we performed in another operetta. During this year we also vis- ited the fire station and were taken on a tour through the building. Children in Miss Pelley's room used to look out the window at the construction of the new gym. We entered THIRD GRADE in the newly-built wing of the elementary school. Mrs. Chase finally carried out her threat, and put adhesive tape on Fizz Richards' mouth, be- cause he spoke out of turn too much .... Mary Lynn Edwards, Betsy Yuill, and Donna Prince hid Miss Clarke's car keys three times and wouldn't tell her where the keys were, so that each time Miss Clarke had to have a new set made .... All the pupils in Miss Clarke's class learned the Preamble to the Constitution and recited it in a group .... Andy Crowe used his magnifying glass to light fires of leaves and paper. ln FOURTH GRADE, we had a Columbus Day assembly, in which we first sang the song which contained the deathless line, In 1492, he sailed the ocean blue .... An- other assembly that year was on Christmas customs. Led by Miss Wren's class, we each held a poster and recited a poem about our own customs. Phina Borgeson and Jean Baker were mistresses of ceremony. We also had square dances in the gymnasium of the old high school. This year also marked the beginning of our first honor group, the Eager Beavers, whose members were Phina Borgeson, Steven Hansen, Carol Govoni, Katy Jokinen, Jean Baker, and Alice Collins . At Christmas we had a choral speaking program, in which Fizz Richards and Cathy DeLorenzo played piano solos .... We had another field trip in the spring. This time we visited the pumping station with Mrs. Turner, our nature teacher from the Audubon Society. The most important event during our SIXTH GRADE year was our Junior Tournament of Plays. Mrs. O'Neil's room, Mr. Staples' room, and Mr. Queeny's room all put on plays. Mr. Queeny's room won with The Trial of Billy Scott. Rip Cheney and Cherry Bishop were voted best actor and best actress, respectively .... We went on two field trips this year. The first was to the Museum of Science in Boston, and the second was a bike ride tothe beach for lunch. Mr. Queeny accompanied us on this trip .... On the last day of school, Mr. Queeny, who had been sick, arranged our social studies projects on the side- walk, and handed them to us as we came out the door. We moved on to SEVENTH GRADE in the old high school. We elected members of our class to the Junior Student Council. From the Council members, Fizz Richards became Vice-President, and Bob Jones, Treasurer .... We again participated in a Tournament of Plays. Grade 7-l performed Primrose Path, grade 7-2 Help Wanted, and grade 7-3, Romper Room. Unfortunately, none of our plays won the contest ....
