Mr. Edward L. Butler, Mr. Walter B. Collins, Dr. Everett L. Handy, Mr. Earl Grenquist, Mrs. Elizabeth Nickerson, Mr. Herbert Nelson. SURVETURS One of the wonderful things about life is the constant renewing of opportunity. Although former graduating classes have thought they were entering the golden age of progress, suc- ceeding classes have discovered a new world as challenging as the one which yesterday be- came commonplace. Your new world is no ex- ception. Its outstanding features are the im- mediate and close relationships of all people on all parts of the earth, the use and control of outer space, and automation with its attendant problem of increased leisure time. To be graduating now is an exciting experience full of oppo rtunities and adventure. Times such as these seem to take on special significance as the end of high school education approaches. They re-emphasize the importance of faith, knowledge, courage, good judgment, character, and the ability to understand and get along with others. They stress the need for good leadership. Your class has demonstrated that it has an abundance of these fine qualities. Congratulations on your success and best wishes for the many happy and eventful years ahead. I shall always have a very special place in my thoughts and memories for the class of 1958. Everett L. Handy Superintendent of Schools 4

, Z I i N 5 f , X L W Lawrence Dunn is progress - the symbol of technological advances - a scientific dreamer. He has introduced us to the known and has intrigued us with the mysteries of the unknown. But more important, he has challenged us to pursue these mys- teries in our separate ways, for the answers can never be found by following one road only. While encouraging the Class of 1958 to grow as individuals, he has also encouraged us to develop a spirit of unity. In appreciation of his genial and imaginative guidance, we dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Dunn. X. , Z4 dwg J? W 3

A , fax ffm I Mr. Rodney Wood, Principal Certainly the events of the past seventeen years have emphasized scientific, cultural, and material changes. The members of the class of 1958 have lived in a period unparalleled in the history of the nation. Perhaps a listing of a few recent events and trends will help to document this assertion. The Atomic Age The United Nations The National Prosperity The Decline of the City The Growth of Church Membership The Depletion of Natural Resources The Era of Space Travel Education for a changing World appears much more important than it did a few years ago. A mind geared to new dimensions, to constant change, is the new power for the individual. Wherever the class of 1958 continues its education, in the university, the business school, or in industry, the faculty of Duxbury High School wish you success and good luck.
