BEIRUT Beirut, Lebanon, The Gateway to the Middle East. We arrived in the evening of Ian. 25th and left during the early morning hours on the 30th. This gave us five days of touring, shopping, and night- clubbing. There was really so much to do and see in Beirut, that it all couldn't begin to be crammed into our five day stay. Beirut is a large, industrial city on the coast of Lebanon. U n Graceful bridges, winding roads . And over there f ,,r,,.,,a., Lf , . ., V' - ,- ..-.....-..,...f-- .-f.,..-- H a' . . .,,. We did our job and did it well, and to many firends, we must bid farewell. The Greenwich Bay has shown you how, So the number one team, now takes it's bow. We give you MIDEASTFOR and his barge, and wish you luck, to take you far. As time goes by, you may have gripes, Which will disappear, ar the Crypt at nights. Plan your work and work the plan, And yougll have everything well inhand. Take good care of COMIDEASTFOR team For whom we have so much esteem. We accept your relief and give you the sack: Will see you in March, when you get back. God Speed, smooth seas and fair weather: Good luck on your new ende avor. And finally, from DUXBAY -- january 1966: Greetings old sister, officers and crew, Having you relieve us is indeed something new. We are happy to see you all shiny and white, Like a vision of Allah as you steamed into sight. It's been nearly six months, but we knew you'd come back To take on the Staff, the barge and the sack, To take up patrol in the land of the sun, . To cruise with the Flag and have lots of fun. But if wine, women and song seem to be your delight, Then you're in for a hell of a plight. For here in the East we drink only beer, And women and song, there's neither one here. Our job is won, and now it's your turn. While we head for cool waters, you'll sweat and you'll burn We've worked long and hard, served the Staff at our best, The sack is now yours as we head for our best. A word of advice as we start this last trip: Be proud of your work, be proud of your ship. Bend to the task as we leave you behind: Be fair to the Staff, and they'll treat you in kind.
