S'ne £Piudent 1966 will be a year to remember, as far as the Student Government of Durham Technical Institute is concerned. For this is the first year that we have had a Student Government to function an entire year, and we're very proud of it. It all started last September, when a few students were in the lounge talking and drinking a coke. We decided that this school needed a Student Government to speak for the students, and we were going to see if we could start one. We didn't realize at first how much time and hard work goes into starting a Student Government from scratch, but to us it was worth it, and we hope it will be worth it to the students in the future. We can't say we accomplished as much as we intended or wanted to this year, but at least now the ball is rolling for the future. We do hope the future students of Durham Technical Institute will take advantage of this great op- portunity and make the best of it. The officers of the Student Government want to thank Mr. Collins, Mr. Otte (who is no longer with us), Mr. Jones, and Charlie McPherson for using their valuable time to show us what to do and how to get started. We know we couldn't have done it without them. Also, we want to leave a message for the future students of DTI. Please don't let all our hard work go down the drain! This Student Government helped us, and we know it will help you if you work and keep it going. So don't let us down!
