Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep ... We all remember these words from the Junior Talent Show of 1962, said by a man dear to each of us even before then. He came to us in the fall of 1961, bringing with him an atmosphere of informality and trust. Since then, the students at Durham High have learned to love and respect him. It is not at all unusual to see him rushing down the hall, hands full of papers, smil- ing and saying Hi to everyone he meets. At all games and school functions, there he is — cheering our team on to victory or dancing with a Senior girl all in pink and lace. His good humor and outgoing personality have gained many a smile and feeling of gratitude from both students and faculty. Still, in the face of problems, he is quick to act. By presenting directly to the students problems concerning their behavior or policy, he has shown his trust and has made the students feel a larger part of the school system. His busy schedule in school and community affairs never seems to hinder him from giving time for personal consultation. For his understanding and cheerful example to each of us, we, the Class of ' 64, dedicate the Messenger to Dr. Daniel F. Cagle, Princi- pal of Durham High School.

Forward We Move to Focus on Durham High . . . Our faculty has done much to make our school one for the students. Besides their teaching duties, they have spent much time and effort to help the students be- come more aware of their places as citi- zens of tomorrrow. Moving down the halls of D.H.S., the familiar faces of teachers appear as they hurry by, smiling a greet- ing of warmth and friendliness. On these, our teachers, we focus . . .
