Its purpose is to train students in the -,orrect method of government. liach of the tweny-nine home rooms has a representative. The president of a home room automatically becomes the Council representa- tive from his home room. These representatives assemhle in a meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. All officers for the Council are nominated and elected hy the student hody. The officers, who must he seniors of good scholarship and citizen- ship, serve hotli semesters of the school year. The president and vice-president are elected in the spring for the following year. The officers, secretary and treasurer. are elected in the fall for that vear. The Student Council sponsors lunch line su- pervision, and socials on Friday afternoons. All students may attend Friday socials and dance to the ttines of popu- lar recordings. provided they pay a small atl- mission fee to defray necessary expenses. The lQ4fl-lQ4I Council proposed an amend- ment to the school constitution. Heretofore there was no set date for the election of officers for the student hody, senior, iunior, sophomore classes, and the home rooms. The amendment set a specific date for the nomination. elimina- tion, and election of the officers of each of these. The senior officers are nominated on the last Wednesday in Septemherg eliminated on the next day, Thursday: and elected the follow- ing day, Friday. The iunior and sophomore officers are elected in a similar fashion. the iun- ior election heing held one week laterg the soph- omore election, two weeks later. This amendment was ratified hy the student hotly and approved hy Mr. Holton. principal.
