To Miss Dorothy C. Sullivan, head of the Social Studies Department, we, the Class of 1966, proudly dedicate our Record Book. Through the influence of her enthusiastic and authoritative instruction Miss Sullivan has in- stilled in her students an ardent interest in history and economics. Teachers of her caliber will stand out in our recollections of our years at Durfee.

To the Class of 1966: April, 196( There is a certain amount of pleasure derived from giving advice. Perhaps it is because none of us finds the path through life particularly easy and we may spare others some of the trials and tribulations of our own growing up years. You have been advised by your parents and teachers and at this point I am sure you are beginning to realize that much of this advice was well meant and well founded. Growth toward an intellectual, social and emotional maturity does not occur at a steady pace. There are spurts of growth that occur at moments of role change. When you entered Durfee a change was taking place. Through your successes and failures as sophomores, juniors, and seniors the process was preparing you for another growth change. Today you are at the threshold of another one of those spurts of growth. You know now that you have ability. Have some faith in your capacity to use that ability constructively. Don’t let your faith be shaken by momentary setbacks and remember that the successful person is the one who profits by his mistakes. May there be some meaning to your life; built out of your own past, out of the experiences passed on to you and of the things you believe in and the values for which you are willing to make sacrifices. Please accept my congratulations and best wishes in what- ever endeavors you undertake. Principal.
