E D I C A T I 0 N We, the Class of 1964, dedicate this year book to Mrs. Lenora G. Goltz, teacher of mathematics. She will always be remembered for her ability to make subject matter interesting and comprehensible. Her infinite patience and understanding are heartily ap- preciated. High school years are often filled with strug- gle and doubt. Mrs. Goltz's treatment of her students as people with lives and responsibilities outside the realm of the classroom has helped ease the burden of adolescence. We wish to extend to her our sincerest gratitude, along with our wishes for her continued health and success. We only hope that she will keep on helping her students as she has so greatly helped us.

To the Class of 1964: This is probably one of the happiest days of your life but it should also be one of serious reflection. It has been said, “A man shall be known by his learning.” How well known you be- come has already been determined by your record during your school years. Whether you go on to institutions of higher learning or whether you go into industry, the training you received at Durfee should be of assistance to you. As a large comprehensive high school dealing with culturally, intellectually, and financially different children, Durfee has taught you how to get along with your fellow students in and out of the classroom. You were able to see Democracy prove itself as a workable form of government. The world watched in horror and trepida- tion as the United States lost its leader at the hands of an assas- sin ; but it was clearly demonstrated that our form of government will work when its people are united. Your carefree days are over. You are now young adults and must participate as thinking, discriminating adults to keep this country of ours free. Now is the time to put into practice what you have learned at Durfee, Please accept my congratulations on your graduation and may you continue to grow7 in wisdom and in stature.
