To Jfie Members of the Graduating Class of 1961 of the B. M. C. Durfee High School: There is no doubt that one of the great turning points in the lives of young Americans is graduation from high school. It is an occasion of triumph, and one of great anticipation. To all of you go my heartiest congratulations and the very best wishes of all of us who have had anything to do directly or indirectly with your education. To all of you go our hopes for a future in which you will find the purpose and satisfaction you have desired. Our nation and our city need desperately the talents and the hopes of youth. This has always been the case, but probably never more so than today, with all its trials and tribulations. The opportunities before you are endless, and the advantage you take of them will be the measure of your character and training. Wherever you go, you will always be known as a Durfee graduate. That, I assure you, is no small distinction. Durfee graduates have achieved success in all parts of the world and your school is recognized as one of high merit. It is a responsibility to live up to. Your association with Durfee has, I know, brought out in you inherent qualities of greatness and determination. With these as important assets, you should go far, and the farther you go, the greater will be the satisfaction of all of us, including your parents and your fellow-citizens. With every best wish, I am Superintendent of Schools.
