He was dressed in the usual Santa attire, With no traces of ashes cause he's scared of fire. A box full of presents he had put on his sleigh, Very soon now he would give them all away. His eyes-they didn't twinkle! His dimples-where wer '? His cheeks were like grapefruit, his nose like a berry. His droll little mouth now moved to and fro, I guess that is something people never outgrow. e they Those reindeer of Santa's with paper-cup ears, Were seriously thinking about new careers. I can't really blame them, you know they're our peers, If they left here like that people'd say they were queers. And now back to Santa-he's ready to go Ican hear very plainly his HO HO HO HO. T He got on his sleighCit's really a chairl, 1 And quickly developed a Christmas-ride scare. After securely bracing himself in the sleigh, The reindeer did move and they started away. And I heard him exclaim ere he drove out of sight, Thank goodness for vacation, I'll get some sleep tonight, By Suzanne Caes E IIllIIIIIllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIllllIIllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIlIIIIIIIIIlllllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE 5' llllllllIlIIIIIIIIIIIlllllllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII GEORGE WASHINGTON SLEPT HERE l llllllll llll CAST Mr. Kimber .... ....... After the dinner music was provided by Spector. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIlllllllllllllllllllIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEE I come from a big town, Horsens, back in Denmark with 53,000 inhabitants. I live in a suburb to the town about 3 miles from central. My family consists of 4: my parents and my younger brother, Clause. We live in a brick house. They are the most common houses in Denmark, E C It was a completely different life here in Durant for me. I came to a new family lEwaldl with 3 new sisters, and a new school that is completely different from Danish school system. It will be hard for me to go back to Denmark and have to learn to study again. Iwanted to come to U, S, for the reason that my future plans are being a physical therapist, and it's required that all student needs at least 112 year in a foreign coun- try and best of all an English-speaking one. During the year here in Durant, there have been a great experience for me. I have been involved in lots of different things in the school and outside the school, I was a member of Student Council, who also sponsored me, member of D-Club, chorus and band, out for basketball, and at last individual speech contest which I enjoyed so much that Iwish I had gone out for large group. Speech was really challenge, and I had lot of fun during the contest where I got placed as an Out- standing Speaker in State. The new year began with hard work as the band prepared for a tremendous concert honoring John Phillip Sousa. Special guest George Harling, former conductor of the Durant Town Band, led one of Sousa's famous marches, The Thunderer . Also included in the concert was the ringing of the old school bell during Sousa's Liberty Bell March . Small Group contest in April brought 16 -- I's, 24 -- II's, 13 -- III's. Large Group contest resulted in a rating of II for the band as a whole. Pictured below are those receiving I ratings at Small Group contest. Yet, these moments are what become days, days that become years, and years that create lasting memories. How quickly a lifetime passes. Just as flowing water shapes and molds, so our lives flow in streams that touch and change each others courses and direction. It is this mom- entary flowing together of lives that creates mem- ories to treasure. Just as our forefathers have fought and died to build a nation for unknown generations, so we must prize the freedoms that were earned for us. It is the use of these freedoms to speak, to learn, to establish one's own friendships, and to be oneself that create memories to treasure. Just as the days of school help to Color My World , so are these special moments in time to pause, to reflect, and then continue to pursue our dreams. Ralph Waldo Emerson once ex- pressed these thoughts: What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matter compared to what lies within us, These golden moments in life are our Bi- centennial Memories.
