AW The Year in Review A page was turned, a fresh new one stood before the returning students to D.H.S. This one was 1966-67, a new year, a different year, a hopefully exciting one. Each student began to write, to contribute thoughts and actions on this page. While attending the United States Cheerleading Camp at Lake Geneva, Wis- consin, the D.H.S. cheerleaders placed fourth in team competition out of fifty- five schools. The extra-curricular activ- ities began their fall series with the open- ing of classes in August. Studying was quickly interrupted with Labor Day vaca- tion and ITED tests. Homecoming was soon upon them with the adversary-Solon. Queen Debbie Willroth and the runners-up, Renae Best and Lynne Christensen reigned over the chilly festivities. Three Durant students were elected to district offices oftheF.T.A. at the convention in October. The annual meet the Wildcat night marked the be- ginning of the basketball season. Pre-Christmas festivities included the F.H.A. caroling party and the Sno-Ball dance. Royalty were Lynne Christensen and Tom Christiansen. Girls versus fathers and boys versus faculty games were held to sponsor the Student Council's foreign exchange student. ri xl- Durant debaters winning four debates at the district competition advanced to state competition. Vickie Lilienthal went on tothe state freethrow contest to represent this district. Jerry Mays represented Durant in track competition at the invitational Drake relays. The prom banquets and final tests rounded out the year, followed quickly by commencement. The pages for 1966- 67 were completed. Her?-G iiY?1a l
