,nl fl9.yII1OI1d C. I-Iengelsberg Scholarship, leadership, modesty - ex- cellence in one is rare, and yet, Ray is the epitome of all three. His academic ability gained for him a place on the Dean's List, the scholarship key of Phi Alpha-Theta, and a graduate as- sistantship in history. He amply demon- strated his ability to lead as president of both CCUN and ICC, as an organizer of Student Congress, and as leader of Du- quesne's liberals. After all this, Ray sincerely thought that there were others who were more deserv- ing of membership in the Hall of Fame. Bay is a rare combination, indeed. 1452 Stuart A. Herrington Little wonder that Stu is so well known on campus- his intelligence, personality, and ability to lead are matched by only a few. A political science major and graduating cum laude, he served as Brigade Commander of Army R.O.T.C., president of Scabbard and Blade Fratemity, and as a member of the Ranger Raiders. In addition, he was on the Dean's List, a College Bowl nominee, and a winner of an NDEA three-year scholarship to the University of Florida leading to a Ph.D. in public relations. In recognition of his many contributions, he received the President's Award for Outstanding Achievement in R.O.T.C. and appeared in Whcfs lVh0 Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. 223

1 I Jordon A. Cohen jordan Cohen has made outstanding contributions to the university as is evidenced in his active partici- pation in both the academic and social fields. Iordan, a member of the Iournalism Association, served as secretary of Sigma Delta Chi, honorary journalism fraternity. He held the office of vice-president in Beta Pi Sigma fraternity and led the group to a second place trophy in Greek Sing during his senior year. Not limited in his scope of interests, this Dean's List student was a member of the Concert Choir, Seab- bard and Blade, the Student Congress, and WDUQ. 222 Dorothy A. Garrity An English major and Dean's List student, Dorothy Garrity demonstrated her poetic talents as a frequent contribution to The Duke, Duquesne magazine, and The Rectangle, the Sigma Tau Delta national publication. She acted as vice- president and president of the national honorary English fraternity, Sigma Tau Delta. Along with this, her membership in Psi Chi and the Philosophy Club indicate a varied fifid of interest. The first woman student to graduate with a minor in Theology, Dorothy also served as Secre- tary of the Chi Rho Society for two years. Her belief in Christian brotherhood is not only witnessed in her active participation in the Catholic Interracial Council, but in her genuine concern for others.

Carol M . Los For her academic excellence and continued place on the Dean,s List, Carol was graduated cum laude, for her excellence in all her endeavors, L,Esp1'it Du Duc would graduate her summa cum laude. A major in political science, she was a member of the Pre-Law Society, Sigma Tau Delta, honorary English fraternity, and Sigma Lambda Phi. Carol also participated in the Chi Rho Society, the Young Democrats, and the Student Congress, and was presi- dent and secretary of the Women's Residence Council. For most people that would be more than enough, but added to her other talents, Carol also has beauty, which resulted in her nominations for Festival Queen and the Campus Cover Girl Contest. Carol,s many achievements resulted in her deserv- ed listing in lVl1o's VVho Among Students in Ameri- can Colleges cmd U-niversitties. Trudi Jenny Trudi is that highly uncommon person who has the ability to lead without push- ing - an ability that stems from her care and concern for others. Coupled with her knack for accomplishing tasks in the best possible fashion, it has re- sulted, over the past four years, in her becoming Co-Editor of L,Esprit Du Duc and both secretary and pledge mistress of her sorority, Sigma Lambda Phi. Trudi, an English major, has made several contributions to the Duquesne Magazine and is a member of the Chi Rho Society. Those that are acquainted with Trudi are proud to call her friend. 224 Q?
