f CLASS Hl 'I'0RY At last we have f1nally arrlved at the day wh1ch every student has looked forward to Graduat1on As we the graduates of 1956 s1t quletly but lmpatlently awa1t1ng the d1str1but1on of our d1plomas our mmds wander back to the year of 1952 when we entered our Freshman year Oh we remember that flrst day very clearly for lt seemed l1ke only yesterday As we looked at all the strange faces around us we knew that 1n tlme we would be one b1g happy famlly a famlly of boys and g1I'1S help1ng each other ln the school f1eld Yes th1s f1rst year was the one ln wluch we became acquamted Wlth our new teachers and classmates a year not to be forgotten T1me went along and suddenly we were no longer Freshmen we clxmbed a step h1gher to success Sophomores was the name we bore now But 1t wasn t just the new name we were proud of we were proud of our wonderful work we were dolng 1n school M1d year exams and then fmal exams crept up on us And alas we had cllmbed one more step h1gher to success Half f1n1shed w1th our h1gh school years we now had the best two years ahead of us Naturally our Jun1or year was the f1rst to arrlve of the two We had school bake sales 1n the aud1tor1um and dances ln the Hose Hall From these affa1rs we ralsed enough money for our one day tr1p to New York C1ty Our f1rst tr1p to gether as a group our one b1g happy famlly was travehng along to a world famous c1ty Such s1ghts as the Emp1re State Bu1ld1ng Grant s Tomb the Statue of Llberty and St Patrlck S Cathedral w1ll seat themselves 1n our mlnds Our Jun1or year hurrled on 1ts way' as our Sen1or year took over After three years of wa1t1ng we had f1nally gamed the honored t1tle Sen1ors Th1s was true but yet lt was hard to bel1eve hard to bel1eve that thls was the flnal of our school days R1ght from the begmmng of the term ln 55 we had several act1v1t1es to start plann1ng and preparmg Our f1rst meetmg was held and we had electlon of offlcers Everyone congratulated Joe Charles Irene and Dolores on thelr new appo1ntments Then the day rolled along when we selected our graduatlon r1ngs from Jostens But now lt was tlme to start buxldlng up our treasury Dolores was appolnted chalrman of the Chr1stmas cards wh1ch was a personal galn And naturally everyone enjoys sweets around the holldays so Chr1stmas candy was sold The magaz1ne campalgn followed next w1th 1ts general manager Elalne But It wasn t Just these wh1ch fed our treasury there were also the school bake sales wh1ch alded a great deal We also held plzza sales on Fr1days a.nd sold soda candy and chlps da1ly It was February 9 1956 when every Sen1or proudly d1splayed thelr graduat1on rmgs Two days later a publ1c bake sale was held 1n the Sugar Bowl Durmg th1s tlme we could also remember the events of havmg our graduatlon plc tures taken and the choos1ng of our name cards and graduatxon announcements The Ed1tor Loretta and Co Ed1tor Babs were eagerly work1ng on the yearbook wlule the cast of the Sen1or play was busy rehears1ng The days passed by br1ng1ng our Washlngton tr1p closer Once aga1n our one b1g happy famlly was travelmg to gether but thls tlme lt was for four glorlous days 1n Washmgton D C There were s1ghts to behold and joyous moments to remember Back home aga1n everyone was plann1ng for the Jun1or Sen1or Prom a successful annual event Days passed on when lt was f1nally graduatlon day Exclted and glad yet a l1ttle sad we walked down the a1sle Four adventurous years have passed and here we are seated 1n the L1ncoln Theatre on Graduat1on n1ght I guess all our mmds wandered back 1nto the past as we s1t here But now we look toward the future Our one b1g happy fam1ly w1ll soon part but Ln our m1nds and hearts there wlll forever lmger wonderful memor1es Farewell' Barbara Mahnlcs 1956 l l fl v I f: :X X: If 9: -X X: rj X: ..
